Wire Mesh / Elastomer dual function

These gaskets combine wire mesh in parallel with an elastomer weather sealing strip. They are available in a broad range of standard cross sections including wire mesh on both sides of the elastomer, and custom made shapes to fit customer’s requirement. These types of gaskets are recommended for applications requiring a weather seal in addition to EMI/EMP shielding. For proper sealing and shielding both portions of the gasket must come in contact with both mating surfaces. The wires used in the standard EMI/EMP shields in these gaskets are Monel, Copper and Stainless steel. The standard elastomers are neoprene and silicone; however other elastomers can be used upon request. For high deflection applications with low closure force, gaskets with sponge elastomers are recommended. Mesh over a sponge elastomer is suitable for low closure force applications unlike applications requiring less Compressibility where solid elastomers are preferred.
